Leading The Tunnel in the middle of the day, there is nothing to hide behind with Mari Sakurai. The Tokyo based DJ’s controlled hands watch over a very steady, gradual build in anticipation and energy. Cavernous but never convoluted, mid and high frequencies stay sparse while kicks are matched with surgical precision. The amount of eye for detail in mixing and sequencing is what makes this style of techno so interesting, and Mari Sakurai is a master of this. It’s all straight to the core. This is thumping, hypnotic, forwards-facing techno. Ears to the ground is the only way to go.
