DJ Firmeza, DJ Lycox and DJ Narciso have been steadily shaping an entirely new sonic language over the last decade. A real office favourite as of late; we were keen to give them this peak time slot as Aura approaches a climax. Emerging from the hyper-local of Lisbon’s underground dance community, this is a sound borne out of unbridled cultural exchange. Associated with the iconic Principe label based in Lisbon, their synth-heavy, percussion-driven sound blends Afro-Portuguese and broader Afro-diasporic influences like batida, kizomba, kuduro and tarraxinha into a thrilling postcolonial vocabulary. It’s vibrant, tactile music - thriving in the mids and highs but anchored by punchy, full-bodied low end. Bringing us into darkness with raucous party energy, restraint won’t be an option.
